Stainless or corrosion-resistant steel?

Everything you want to know about stainless steel

“Stainless steel” is actually not the most accurate name for what is technically known as corrosion-resistant steel. Stainless steel is an alloy consisting of approximately 80% iron, combined with elements like chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. These additives form a protective, corrosion-resistant surface layer on the material. That’s what makes stainless steel so durable—it lasts for many years! Read everything you need to know here.

Which type of stainless steel should you choose?

There are many stainless steel alloys, each with their own specific properties. The materials Rovasta mainly works with are the two most common and widely used types: stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 316.

Stainless steel 304 is household-grade and primarily used indoors, for example in kitchen fittings such as countertops and backsplashes.
Stainless steel 316 is acid-resistant and suitable for outdoor use or for work surfaces in environments like laboratories.
